Our Mission:
“To train, build, prepare, and support the underrepresented through film and media training.”
Welcome to the exciting world of the Los Angeles Film Kitchen, where creativity, diversity, and empowerment converge to shape the future of film and media. Our partnership with the West Athens Westmont Task Force, further fuels our powerful mission statement”. We got started before meeting the lovely folks at the Task Force.
In the year 2020, the Los Angeles Film Kitchen emerged as a dynamic offshoot of our esteemed nonprofit entity, The Media Aid Center. Since our inception in 1996, we’ve dedicated ourselves to empowering the masses, having successfully trained over 3,000 youth, adults, and organizational leaders on a global scale. The Media Aid Center’s enduring legacy also encompasses the establishment of mini-TV facilities within schools and the provision of accredited, in-class training throughout the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and beyond.
Our journey took a pivotal turn after nurturing the creative spirits of young minds for over two decades. It was time to shift our focus towards adults, and thus, the Los Angeles Film Kitchen was born. We’ve designed this space as a beacon of opportunity, a place where dreams are nurtured, and stories are told. To ensure accessibility for the community we hold dear, we’ve committed to charging only a fraction of the cost compared to traditional university programs and maintaining small class sizes.
But our mission goes beyond education; it’s about promoting diversity and inclusivity in an industry that has often been exclusive. When you support the Los Angeles Film Kitchen, you’re championing one of the few black-owned film schools in the United States. We are more than an educational institution; we are a testament to the power of diverse voices coming together to change the narrative of film and media.
Join us on this remarkable journey as we continue to empower, inspire, and create a brighter future, one film at a time. The Los Angeles Film Kitchen is not just a school; it’s a community, a movement, and a celebration of untold stories.
